She was born in Utah as the youngest of five children. Her parents raised her. parent's in Indiana. Her high school education in Jeffersonville High School, Indiana, and graduated in 1992. Brigham Young University gave her a college education, and she graduated from Brigham Young University in the year 1995, with a bachelor of arts degree in communication. Then she attended Mississippi State University for a new degree, this one in Geosciences.
